How do we stay human in a world increasingly shaped by climate disruption?Hosted by NY Insight Meditation Center / Antara Network. Themes: Climate and Health, Nature, Land and Oceans, Sustainable Living, Cities and Communities.
How do we stay human in a world increasingly shaped by climate disruption? How do we remain present to ecological loss and uncertainty without becoming overwhelmed, numb, or consumed by fear - and how might a changing climate call us into deeper relationship with one another and the living world?
This experiential Eco-Dharma workshop takes place exactly two years after Hurricane Helene devastated the mountains of western North Carolina, where Buddhist teacher Aarti Tejuja lives. Living through the hurricane brought her face-to-face with the tremendous power of wind and water. It also revealed something unexpected: in the storm’s aftermath, political divisions that had seemed immovable became less important as neighbors depended upon one another. Human life mattered. The river mattered. Something more elemental emerged.
Through meditation, mindful movement, sensory awareness, reflection, and relational practices, participants will explore interdependence not simply as an idea, but as a lived experience. Together, we will practice grounding in the body when fear or overwhelm arises, reconnecting with the natural world as a source of strength and belonging, and finding connection and shared humanity across difference.
Staying Human in a World on Fire offers a space to encounter climate change at the scale of the body, relationship, land, and community - and to explore what becomes possible when we meet uncertainty with presence, courage, and connection.

The power of art to organize, connect, and educate has always put artists and art at the forefront of revolutions and social movements. In this period, artists are playing key roles in calling attention to, and organizing around, the climate crisis. Artists are working with designers, architects and scientists, for example, to create sustainable environments and ecosystems. Art is communicating the reality of the climate crisis: the heartbreak of loss, devastation, and destruction, and the possibility of repair, recovery, equity, and community.
We are all born with the ability to be creative. Because of being told what looks good, what doesn’t, what’s right, or what’s wrong, many of us start to feel self-conscious and lose access to our ability to be creative. But, in fact, we all still have this ability within us. It is part of being human.
With the help of listening to each other and noticing our feelings, we can reclaim our inherent creativity and unblock places where we feel stuck, unable, embarrassed or not good enough. We can free ourselves from negative thinking and allow ourselves to make, play, experiment, and express ourselves through art of all kinds.
Art can serve as a universal language that brings people together around a common goal and cause. Art can be a way to notice that we are all connected and that something that hurts one person or community hurts us all. Art can help people understand complex ideas and concepts and distill hard science into something we can understand and feel. In moments when the climate emergency feels too big and despair takes over, art can lighten our load and help us feel hopeful again. Art can help us notice how much we care about the earth.
In this workshop, we will:
* Explore the impact of art and creativity in the climate movement
* Make art in a safe and unpressured environment
* Notice our feelings with others about the earth and the climate emergency and free ourselves from emotional burdens
Come learn how the tools of Sustaining All Life offer us ways to recover from the impact of working in exploitative and oppressive systems, including the competition for limited resources and the marginality many of us face. With this support we can continue building a united front and creating artwork that engages, inspires, and moves us toward a sustainable world where we live in concert with each other and everything around us.read more · Original Link ↗ · Register ↗

The climate crisis is also a crisis of our emotions: global warming and its impact can make us feel angry, fearful, helpless, and more. Research indicates increasingly that this is a major barrier to more joined-up, consistent climate action.
Love and Fear in a Warming World is a creative, facilitated experience in which a shared, creative experience becomes the source of new connections and new motivation to take action. Led by professional facilitators from Climate Shift (UK) and Slam Out Loud (India), the session is designed so that everyone contributes and everyone belongs, regardless of background or experience. This workshop has been delivered previously at Climate Action Week NYC, at London Climate Action Week, and to audiences globally both online and in-person.read more · Original Link ↗ · Register ↗

Since our start, GoFB has fought for a publicly, equitably accessible waterfront with a community boathouse, field station, and gathering space that is resilient for all. As GoFB prepares to build stage one of that vision - a floating field station on a custom vessel - we want to bring our beloved community together to celebrate this moment and continue to dream big! Here’s what to expect:

Park Slope Super Stoop is back for its second year. On Saturday, September 26, neighbors across Park Slope will transform their stoops into mini markets, giveaways, and gathering spots, creating one giant neighborhood-wide stoop sale.
For visitors unfamiliar with the term, a "stoop" is the short flight of steps leading up to the entrance of a brownstone or townhouse, along with the small landing at the top. In Brooklyn, stoops are more than architecture. They're where neighbors sit and chat, kids play, musicians perform, and community happens in public view. The stoop is a Brooklyn cultural institution, a semi-private, semi-public space that has long served as the neighborhood's living room.
Super Stoop Day is also a hands-on celebration of the circular economy in action. Every item that changes hands, from clothing to books to furniture to kitchenware, stays in use instead of ending up in a landfill, cutting waste and the carbon footprint tied to producing something new. It's climate action at the most local scale possible, happening stoop by stoop, with neighbors getting to know each other while giving their belongings a second life.
We invite Climate Week participants to walk through Park Slope and experience grassroots sustainability firsthand. No registration required. Just come stroll the stoops, meet your neighbors, and browse a day full of secondhand treasures.read more · Original Link ↗ · Register ↗

Artificial intelligence (AI) is often framed as a tool for innovation and progress. But the reality is that it carries significant environmental costs and damage that are frequently overlooked. This workshop examines the growing climate impact of AI, with a focus on freeing ourselves from any powerlessness we feel in taking on the AI industrial complex.
Large-scale data centers consume massive amounts of electricity;most often sourced from fossil fuels and require enormous quantities of water for cooling. As demand for AI systems grows, so too does their carbon footprint. While profit from AI is largely concentrated among major corporations and wealthy nations, the environmental burden often falls on frontline communities.read more · Original Link ↗ · Register ↗

Fashion is the second most-polluting industry in the world after oil. Its value is estimated at three trillion dollars. It produces more greenhouse emissions than international flights and shipping combined. It is one of the largest consumers of freshwater on the planet.
Women are targeted by and vulnerable to the fashion industry. Women are also disproportionately affected by the climate emergency. Women can play a key role in the fight for climate justice and a sustainable economic system.
This workshop is an opportunity to:
•Gain a clear picture of how the lives of women in the Global North and the Global South are affected by the production, marketing and distribution of cheap, intentionally disposable clothing
•Experience a Subversive Catwalk of up-cycled, message-adorned clothing
•Hear personal stories from a diverse group of women about the impact the fashion industry has on their lives and how they reclaim their minds from the artificial limitations imposed by sexism
•Learn about the approaches used by Sustaining All Life and United to End Racism to heal from the damage of oppression, to increase our effectiveness in the climate justice movement and to prevent burnout

We are living through a planetary crossing - and our bodies and hearts know it. Grief & Longing. Ancestral rememberings. Collective heartbreak. Courting mystery. Deep-time listening. Cultural repair & renewal. Mythopoetic attunement. Embodiment & song. And the many other things that make us human. Let’s take a necessary moment to drop in with reverence and wonder and some appropriate praise for the place that has been holding us and our dreams
Join Asheville-based astrologer and storyteller Frank Salzano (Medicine of the Starry Heavens), and Brooklyn-based musician Lila - - - for an immersive afternoon weaving together song circles, poetic myth-telling, and deep-time story to help us feel our way through the climate moment. Rather than another problem-solving conversation, this is a ritual of attuning - grounded in the living ecologies of the New York City watershed, its marshlands, rising tides, and ancient memory.
We'll move through harmonizing and voice to drop into the body together, then journey through the cosmos and climate mythos that connects us to this place and bridges our ancestral starlore to the current meta-crisis. From the Starry River to the Hudson, we will conclude with some shared reflections and integration, offering our musings, blessings and care back to this home we hold so dear.
The afternoon will unfold in three movements:
Opening - song circle & harmonizing to arrive together
Journey - poetic storytelling through climate, cosmos & the NYC watershed
Integration - group shares, Q&A & collective reflection and care

Audiences should be prepared to move north along 8 blocks of Riverside Park South.
THREAD is the company's third dance work based on research by geologists Dr. MIssy Eppes and her colleagues, Dr Stephen Laubach and Dr. Jill A. Marshall. Melissa Riker has been in collaboration with Dr. Eppes as they work in tandem to uncover the parallels between humanity and the earth, and art making and scientific research
ABOUT THE WORK THREAD considers the similarities between the delicate, feathery mineral elements that interconnect and create bonds in rock;the thin strands of flax that combine to become rope strong enough to haul a ship;the movement of trees as "agents of progressive rock cracking" (Dr. Jill A. Marshall);and the invisible thread that keeps humans connected to those we love across distance.

How is climate change affecting the journeys of monarch butterflies and other pollinators? Join Marine Park Alliance for a conversation and hands-on community science experience with Mike Feller, former Chief Naturalist for NYC Parks, exploring the challenges facing pollinators in an era of climate change.
Monarch butterflies undertake one of the most remarkable migrations in the natural world, but changing temperatures, weather patterns, habitat loss, and other climate-related pressures are reshaping their ability to survive and reproduce. We’ll discuss what scientists and community members are learning about pollinator migration, why declining populations matter for healthy ecosystems, and how creating and protecting pollinator habitat in New York City can help.
Participants will also have the opportunity to help band monarch butterflies, contributing observations to a national community science effort tracking monarch migration and population trends. The program offers a chance to connect global climate change to the wildlife and habitats we can observe and protect right here in Brooklyn's largest park.read more · Original Link ↗ · Register ↗

As part of Climate Week, this Bird Journaling & Meditation Walk is a gentle, curiosity-led experience where we slow down, reconnect with ourselves, and reconnect with the nature that surrounds us every day.
Through birds, journaling, and meditation, we'll take time to notice the incredible wildlife that shares our city, reflect on our relationship with the natural world, and practice gratitude for the spaces we have the privilege to enjoy - and the opportunity to help protect.
This is not about being "good" at meditation.
This is not about having a perfect journal entry.
This is definitely not about needing any experience.
This is about trying something new in a space that feels safe, supportive, and maybe even a little magical.
✨ What to Expect
📝 30 minutes of guided journaling
A beginner-friendly journaling practice designed to help you reflect, notice, and connect with yourself while exploring your relationship with nature and the world around you.
🐦 30 minutes of guided bird meditation
We'll experience meditation through the sounds, movements, and presence of birds. The practice will be broken into simple, approachable sections, making it easy for first-time meditators to participate.
🌿 A mindful bird walk through Central ParkAfter journaling and meditation, we'll take a gentle walk together, grounding ourselves in the birds we see, the sounds we hear, and the beauty of one of New York City's most beloved green spaces.
💛 A low-pressure, neurodivergent-friendly, beginner-focused space where everyone is welcome.
There is no "right" way to participate. You can come curious, quiet, excited, nervous, or somewhere in between.

How to Translate Human Voices to Public Participation Through Web Game workshop.
LocalLoopNYC is part of LocalLoop’s universe, developed by Layermind.ai and Participatory Citizen Lab Inc.
This event asks a central question: How can human voices be translated into public participation through a web game?
Through discussion, storytelling, and participatory game activities, LocalLoopNYC invites participants to reflect on real social issues, share local perspectives, and experiment with new ways that collective input can inform public dialogue and decision-making.
Using a web-based game format, the event makes civic engagement more accessible, creative, and inclusive. Participants will explore how digital play can help surface community concerns, connect lived experiences, and turn everyday voices into shared civic imagination.
No prior experience with gaming, design, or public policy is required. Just bring your curiosity, your perspective, and a willingness to participate.

Right to Flight is a participatory public artwork and performance that responds to the hundreds of thousands of migratory birds killed each year through collisions with New York City's glass buildings. Right to Flight invites New Yorkers to reimagine the city for migratory birds.
Combining large-scale woven sculpture, performance, sound, costume, memorial-making, and public participation, the project invites audiences to reflect on the intertwined futures of human and more-than-human life in the city. At its heart is a monumental communal nest, woven from reclaimed textiles and natural materials, that becomes a site for collective mourning, storytelling, and hope.
Through performances inspired by extinct North American birds, hand-cast memorials of collision victims, and sculptural bird-safe architectural interventions, Right to Flight transforms ecological grief into an act of collective care. Rather than presenting biodiversity loss as inevitable, the work encourages audiences to imagine cities that support coexistence, demonstrating how art, architecture, preservation, music and dance performance can foster more compassionate and regenerative urban futures.read more · Original Link ↗ · Register ↗

About the host:
Empowerment Collective (EC) was founded by Nasreen Sheikh, a survivor of modern slavery and global human rights advocate. 100% led by survivors, EC utilizes circular leadership models to reduce vulnerability to poverty and exploitation through seven key human rights: nature, water, food, healthcare, housing, education, and technology. The organization takes a multi-scale approach - engaging directly with communities through relationship-based mutual aid and survivor leadership programs, while also collaborating with high-level policymakers to drive systemic change. Through the TransparaTrade initiative, EC leads a global movement for a regenerative and transparent economic system to eradicate poverty and exploitation at the root.read more · Original Link ↗ · Register ↗

The Seagrass Dance is a Climate Week NYC screening of artist Kayla Weisdorf’s new 70-minute documentary exploring the extraordinary ecological potential of seagrass - one of the world’s most effective natural carbon sinks and a powerful yet often overlooked nature-based climate solution. Through poetic cinematography and an original score, the film follows the restoration of eelgrass meadows, revealing how ecological care, scientific knowledge, and human participation can work together to restore coastal ecosystems.
The screening will be followed by a conversation with artist Kayla Weisdorf and Willis Elkins, Executive Director of Newtown Creek Alliance, exploring ecological restoration, public engagement, and the role of art in inspiring climate action.
The event is intended for artists, environmental practitioners, scientists, policymakers, philanthropists, and members of the broader Climate Week community interested in nature-based solutions, ecological restoration, and the role of culture in advancing climate action.

Built for you by(617)-PATRICK, Champion AI speaker
Let AI help you determine which sessions to attend 🤖
The steps below are for copying all the session descriptions and putting them into your own AI model - Claude, Gemini, ChatGPT, Co-Pilot and so on. This is the best way to do it on your laptop or PC. If you don't have your laptop with you, use the phone feature in red at the top of this page.
Tip: This is a large session list. Claude (claude.ai) handles the full file reliably - if you don't have a window open, start one there. Other tools like ChatGPT and Gemini may silently cut off the data - the verification step in the prompt will catch that.
Paste one of these two prompts. The short one is enough; the longer one gives the AI a role, context about the data, and a clear task.
Pick the 10 best sessions for me and say why.
ROLE: Expert conference advisor for Climate Week NYC 2026 attendees CONTEXT: I'm pasting over 50 sessions for the Climate Week NYC 2026.
I work in climate/sustainability. I want the strongest panels and briefings on climate finance, policy and clean energy, plus the best receptions and mixers to meet other climate professionals. GOAL: Pick the top 10 sessions for me. OUTPUT FORMAT: List in chronological order. Do NOT number them sequentially.
Instead, start each entry with its relevance rank in bold, like: Rank #3 of over 50 - Session Title.
Follow with the day and time, then 2-3 sentences on why it fits my goals. VERIFICATION: Before answering, confirm how many sessions you received.
You should have at least 50. If you received significantly fewer,
tell me immediately - my paste was probably truncated.
How cool am I? 😎
Which sessions are right for you?
Describe yourself and what you want from Climate Week NYC 2026. The more specific you are, the better this works.
You can also say how many you want or when you're free - “just my top 3”, “give me 20”, “only Friday afternoon”. You get 5 unless you ask for more.
There is a daily limit on the phone version
so it can stay free for everyone at the event.
However, you can run it as many times as you want using your own AI account at home:
go to the bottom of the page
tap Copy this longer prompt
paste it into Claude, ChatGPT, or Gemini.
Powered by Claude. Your text is sent to Anthropic to generate the ranking, and is logged on this site so the feature can be improved. Please don't type anything confidential.
